St. Joseph’s Health Centre (SJHC) Toronto is seeking locum and permanent staff psychiatrists (full time and part time) in the general outpatient psychiatry setting. We offer flexible arrangements to facilitate the care of a diverse and often marginalized population in a collaborative and dynamic multidisciplinary clinic with support from mental health clinicians and case managers. We aim to deliver a time-limited intensive episode of care aimed at reintegrating patients with appropriate community supports. The Department offers an exciting range of psychiatric services including rTMS, ECT, urgent care child and adolescent clinic, rapid access crisis clinic, ACTT, group psychotherapy modalities, Day Treatment Program, and inpatient services for children and adolescents, transitional age youth and the general adult population.

Locums: Locum remuneration includes OHIP billings, HOCC stipend (if participating in call) and a modest per diem. Call shifts are lucrative as the emergency department sees relatively high volumes of mental health visits. Locums are being sought for 6-12 month periods, with opportunity to consider transition to permanent staff.

Permanent Positions: Remuneration includes a combination of OHIP billings, HOCC (if participating in call), a generous stipend and educational funds for contributions to postgraduate education and training. There are no overhead expenses. Permanent staff must be eligible for a university appointment as SJHC is an academic community site for the University of Toronto Temerty Faculty of Medicine.

St. Joseph’s Health Centre (SJHC) Toronto, a division of Unity Health Toronto, serves the West Toronto catchment area, which is home to an ethno racially and socioeconomically diverse population. We provide access to a suite of multidisciplinary clinical services within a general hospital setting to support the provision of care to this diverse population in collaboration with community partners.

Candidates must hold an active certificate of registration from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. For locums, an active university appointment is preferred but not mandatory.
