Election Notice to CPSO Members in Districts 1, 2, 3, & 4

An election will be held from Tuesday, May 31, 2022 to Tuesday, June 21, 2022 to elect Council representatives to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Positions Open for Election

District 1: 1 position

Counties of Essex, Kent, and Lambton

District 2: 1 position

Counties of Elgin, Huron, Middlesex, Oxford, and Perth

District 3: 1 position

Counties of Bruce, Dufferin, Grey, Wellington, and the Regional Municipality of Waterloo

District 4: 2 positions

County of Brant and the Regional Municipalities of Haldimand-Norfolk, Halton, Hamilton-Wentworth, and Niagara

If you are interested in running for election to Council, please submit a nomination package by 4:00pm on Friday, April 22, 2022.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to run, you must either:

  • primarily practise in the district in which you wish to run; or
  • reside in the district in which you wish to run (for those who no longer practice).

In addition to your passion for making a positive difference in how the medical profession is regulated, we are looking for physicians who:

  • show a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion to help shape the future of medical regulation;
  • demonstrate leadership skills and a solid understanding of the health care system; and
  • are committed to acting solely in the best interest of the public

CPSO has made a commitment to examine how we, as an organization, can better fulfill our mandate through bringing equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) to our processes and policies. CPSO is seeking nominations from physicians who can bring a broad range of skills and perspectives to the Council’s work.

Here are the important dates you need to know:

  • April 22, 2022 – Nominees must have completed an orientation session and submit a completed nomination package by 4:00pm
  • May 31, 2022 – Online voting polls open at 7:00am
  • June 21, 2022 – Online voting polls close at 4:00pm

  1. Complete an orientation prior to submitting your nomination package. To access the orientation materials, please contact councilelections@cpso.on.ca
  1. Prepare and submit your nomination packagewhich includes:
  • A completed nomination form;
  • A current resume;
  • A nomination statement that briefly explains why you are running for election and
  • highlights what skills and diversity attributes you would bring to Council (no more than 300 words);
  • Signed conflict of interest form;
  • A current headshot (1024×1024 pixels).
  1. Familiarize yourself with CPSO’s By-Laws, and Declaration of Adherence documents.
