The Program

Trillium Health Partners’ Emergency Medicine & Urgent Care Program is one of the largest programs in Ontario, seeing over 250,000 patients annually. The program is advancing its platform in new ways, such as focusing on digital technologies and simulation to support interprofessional, team-based learning and care. It includes two Emergency Departments, one at each hospital site: Credit Valley and Mississauga, both located in Mississauga, Ontario. The Program also supports medical education, offering highly sought after placements and rotations for undergraduate medical students from the Mississauga Academy of Medicine and postgraduate trainees from the University of Toronto and across the country.

The Emergency Medicine Program at THP is launching a new and robust medical leadership structure in an effort to advance our integrated model of care in continuing to meet the needs of our community for years to come. This is being done amid increasing demands of a growing population and high-acuity patient care. As part of that effort, the program is beginning active recruitment for physician leadership positions. The role descriptions for each of the positions are summarized below.

Co-Division Head and Service Medical Director (2 positions)

Reporting to the Program Chief & Medical Director, Emergency Medicine & Urgent Care Program, the Co-Division Head and Service Medical Director will be a critical member of the Emergency Medicine Leadership team who will champion and lead local Emergency Medicine health initiatives and provide strategic and operational direction in a dyad partnership with the Clinical Manager, Emergency Department. Working with an interprofessional team, and leading the Emergency Medicine physicians at the designated site, the Co-Division Head and Service Medical Director will support an ongoing commitment to clinical excellence and patient centered care by actively promoting and continuing to advance best practices that deliver on THP’s strategy of quality, access and sustainability.

Physician Lead, Digital Health (1 position)

Interim reporting to the Program Chief, the Physician Lead, Digital Health will be a critical member of the Emergency Medicine Leadership team who will support our commitment to delivering a new kind of healthcare for a healthier community by advancing digital strategies for the delivery of care for ED Program at THP. The role will support the delivery of safe, high quality and efficient patient care through the effective application of information and digital health technologies within the ED program.

Physician Lead, Quality and Practice (1 position)

Reporting to the Co-Division Head and Service Medical Director, the Physician Lead, Quality and Practice will be a critical member of the Emergency Medicine Leadership team who will champion and lead local Emergency Medicine program quality, practice and strategic initiatives. Working with an interprofessional team, and leading the Professional Staff, which includes approximately 100 Emergency Medicine physicians, the Physician Lead, Quality & Practice will support an ongoing commitment to clinical excellence and patient centered care by actively promoting and continuing to advance best practices and high quality services that deliver on THP’s strategy of quality, access and sustainability.

Physician Lead, Integrated Continuing Medical Education (1 position)

Reporting to the Co-Division Head and Service Medical Director, the Physician Lead, Integrated Continuing Medical Education will be a critical member of the Emergency Medicine Leadership team who will support our commitment to delivering a new kind of healthcare for a healthier community by developing and implementing innovative, interprofessional cross-site education efforts for the ED Program. Working with an interprofessional team, and leading the Professional Staff, which includes approximately 100 Emergency Medicine physicians, the Physician Lead, Integrated Continuing Medical Education will champion and lead local Emergency Medicine program cross-site rounds, simulations and practice updates initiatives.
